Founded a few years ago, but with 25 years of collective industry experience, we're a small strategic comms start-up that punches above its weight. We strongly believe there's no limit to what you can achieve!
What’s the opportunity?
Working abroad & global accounts:
Our clients are multinational, and you will occasionally be required to travel to Europe (for instance, the team will be going to Paris, Brussels, and Geneva this year) to assist clients, as well as further afield for an international conference in Washington DC. Next year, Seoul is also on the cards.
A key point for us is that, yes, we’re a small agency but we’re on track to double in size this year and we want someone to be instrumental in that growth. We’re also oversubscribed with new business so we are chomping at the bit to give our new Account Manager as much responsibility (and support) as you want in client-facing roles – something that is often hard to find in a larger agency at the level of experience we’re looking for.
Global strategic work:
We work with large multinational clients, largely within FMCG - household names that you will know. As a result, the work is varied, stimulating and at times challenging.
Totally flexible working:
You can work from home, work from the office (with a bar in the office and a rooftop garden), and you'll even find yourself jumping on a plane and working abroad.
Empowerment and support to challenge yourself.
We firmly believe in empowerment as well as responsibility, supporting team members to develop, upskill, and take on new challenges.
2023 looks even more exciting!
We also anticipate, at the current trajectory of growth, having to hire more so the outlook of the company really is very good. And, that’s before we even look at going out and generating our own new business opportunities ourselves, which we’re keen to give everyone the chance to do if you want to.
Management & junior support:
We will also be hiring a new Account Executive to support you in the role, and to help deliver on our accounts, and you will be fully involved in the recruitment of that position.
Agency or in-house communications team experience a must - (AE upwards)
This isn't a junior/entry-level role. We don't have the capacity to train up someone who has never worked in agency / in-house comms before. You need to be able to hit the ground running.
Experience managing clients, accounts, and projects at a high standard
The role will be very client-focused, working closely with Tommy (Account Director) to support existing client activity, and progressing projects independently. We need confidence that the candidate has taken projects to completion, and has had results
Passion, tenacity and enthusiasm for pitching and placing articles:
Media relations is a key part of the job and tasks the successful candidate will be asked to do. You need to genuinely love relationship building, and the cut and thrust of media in order to fulfil your responsibilities well. In a tough media environment, you need to be persistent and have a desire to win people over and succeed.
Superb writing and editing skills
Clients demand exacting standards from us in all of your external written materials
Newsjacking, creative thinking - (beyond writing a press release)
It is getting harder to place stories in the media, and with journalists receiving dozens of press releases each day, the ideal candidate will need to know how to navigate and master this competitive landscape. You need to be able to stand out from the crowd. With that, you need to be creative in order to develop opportunities from nothing for clients and know how to take advantage of the opportunities that may arise in the media (newsjacking)
Ability to communicate with confidence and ease in a variety of forums including client meetings and new business pitches
Almost everything we do is externally facing with different stakeholders - we can't have a person who shies away from difficult conversations and doesn't contribute your own perspectives and ideas. Our clients look to us to advise them, and if we're not fulfilling that then we're not succeeding.
Pitching new business
The business is growing and has ambitions beyond the current client portfolio and the current pipeline of new business. That is why everyone is incentivised to win new business under the 10% commission model. The business offers a WYSIWYG ethos to its clients - What You See Is What You Get. Therefore, when a team presents to a new client, that will be the team that ends up servicing them when DRC wins the business. With that, it is important our new AM needs to present confidently to prospective clients.
